POSITION: Paraeducator
Ocean Park Elementary
REPORTS TO: School Principal, Erin Porro

DATES: 2025-26 School Year
SALARY: Per CPEA 2024-25 Salary Schedule DOE ($21.26 - $32.65).
HOURS/DAYS: 6.5 hours per day/5 days per week
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must meet Paraeducator minimum requirements: pass Paraeducator exam, or 72 college quarter credits, or AA or AS from accredited college.
- Preferred: Experience working with children
- Operating knowledge of computers
- Must be able to pass fingerprint background check
- Must be a willing and flexible worker
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
General Functions:
• Incorporate the school positive behavior supports in the managing of students
• Ensure students follow safety procedures at all times
• Provide reading interventions and supports as assigned by certificated teacher
• Have knowledge of school and classroom rules, procedures and practices
• Have the ability to interpret and establish appropriate rules, methods and techniques in maintaining a disciplined academic environment
• Strong interpersonal skills and patience
• Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques is strongly encouraged
• Provide supervision for students who are assigned to In-School Suspension or who need a break from the regular classroom
• Take daily attendance as needed Support the provision of a safe, positive and orderly learning environment by maintaining behavioral expectations in all settings
• Collect and prepare instructional and non-instructional materials under the direction of qualified teachers
• Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and model appropriate behavior for student achievement, personal growth, and social development
• Attend and participate in all required staff meetings and staff development sessions as directed by building principal
OTHER FUNCTIONS
Fulfill all other responsibilities as assigned.
